Week 580 Review - Optibiotix and Jubilee Metals ruin an otherwise flat week.

It was a largely flat week, but my biggest holdings all dropped, so the result was a widening of the deficit between cost and value by £2,667 to £154,713 and a widening of the deficit between injection and value to £60,556. Total portfolio value fell to £129,183.

Worst performer was SBTX:SkinBioTherapeutics, which dropped 17% for no reason whatsoever.

JLP:Jubilee Metals is my 2nd largest holding and dropped 13% and was responsible for a big chunk of the losses.

FSG:Foresight Group Holdings fell 7% but most of that was from going ex-dividend.

IES:Invinity Energy drifted 7% lower.

HPOW:H-Power fell 6% which seems the same kind of drift as with IES.

OPTI:Optibiotix gave insipid interims and fell 5%, but that was on the back of a 13% rise last week.

FNX:Fonix went up 5% and is only 7% down now.

DXRX:Diaceutics has been motoring the last few weeks and went up another 6% this week so is now only 3% down.

TRU:Trufin is hopefully recovering from selling off a chunk of its assets and went up 6% this week, but is still 11% down. Given it has sold off such a big chunk of the company, I doubt it will be in my top 50 rankings in 6 months time, so I may sell it when it gets back to break-even.

BTG:BTG Consulting had a good AGM trading statement and went up 7% so is now only 7% down.

Share of the week is KEYS:Keystone Law Group which gave out a stellar interim report and went up 14% to go 17% into profit.

Here's the ISA and shares portfolio after week 8 of year 12.

I used my cash injection to buy 523 shares in KOO:Kooth at 189.95p costing £998.44. They are near the top of my AIM magic formula rankings but I've been reluctant to buy as they rely heavily on Medicaid, which the American government have been destroying. However, with social media platforms being fined over harming the mental wellbeing of the younger generation, and with KOO providing online mental wellbeing support, it seemed there could be a lot of money being directed at their services even without Medicaid, so I decided now was the time to invest.

Portfolio value was absolutely hammered thanks to JLP:Jubilee Metals, OPTI:Optibiotix and SBTX:SkinBioTherapeutics and dropped over £2k, but AMRQ:Amaroq only dropped slightly so potential profits only suffered by £25.

A definite dip.

Right back on that bloody trend line!

Not much hope of this looking any better.

Some gold shares went up so potential profits improved by £499, but the losses already mentioned meant an overall drop of £542 in portfolio value. I had £35 dividend from FOUR:4imprint, £9 from FRES:Fresnillo, £16 from MSI:MS International and £43 from INVP:Investec, which was nice.

Why can't I stay above that injection line?

Still relentlessly following the trend line downwards.

The dividends kept this one flat this week.

I've caught up my backlog of posts, but my enthusiasm for writing these updates is waning as I seem to be losing money every week. I need the new director appointed by OPTI:Optibiotix to use his connections in the world of sweeteners to finally get Sweetbiotix being used in something, and I need the new focus of JLP:Jubilee Metals on their copper operation to start generating meaningful profit. It's those two companies that are really screwing up my performance because I went big and I went wrong.

Week 579 Review - Miners drag the SIPP down again but ISA is up.

Another bad week, with the deficit between cost and value widening by £1,430 to £152,045 and the deficit between injection and value growing to £57,993. Total portfolio value dropped to £131,745.

Worst performer was RDT:Rosslyn Data, which dropped 13% and is 88% down, so not long before it's an official basket case share and I stop reporting on price movements.

PAF:Pan African Resources dropped a massive 10% which was particularly vexing as it's one of my larger holdings.

AMP:Ampeak Energy and ATYM:Atalya Mining dropped 8%.

MSI:MS International dropped 7% but is still 13% in profit. GGP:Greatland Resources also dropped 7% putting my recent purchase at a 6% loss.

FRES:Fresnillo dropped 6% and is 16% down.

III:3i Group, THX:Thor Explorations  and MGNS:Morgan Sindall Group all dropped 5%.

AMRQ:Amaroq and CORE:Solidcore Resources both bucked the trend for miners and went up 5%.

KEYS:Keystone Law Group also climbed 5% and went 2% into profit.

YU.:Yu Group went up 7% and is now back in profit.

DXRX:Diaceutics went up 9% and is only 8% down.

Share of the Week is OPTI:Optibiotix which went up 13% after a Sweetbiotix update, but even that wasn't enough to counter all the big drops elsewhere.

I added £1,000 to my ISA and will buy something next week. Sell value actually went up thanks to OPTI:Optibiotix, and potential profits thanks to AMRQ:Amaroq.

The tick up is mainly due to the cash injection.

Big drop in portfolio value, most of which was reduced profit from miners. I did get a £25 dividend from GCP:GCP Infrastructure Investments.

Slipping below the injection line. How many times have I bumped my head on it, only to fall back down?

Right back on the trend line. No respite from the constant decline.

My big sell of magic formula shares falling out of the top 15 only got me on to the trend line, but it's 6 months before I can do the same. My only hope is that JLP:Jubilee Metals comes good.

Week 578 Review - Gold miners drop and down we go.

Not a great week, with the deficit between cost and value widening by £1,823 to £150,614 and the deficit between injection and value widening to £56,571. Total portfolio value dropped to £132,167. I've had this sitting around in draft for weeks without having the enthusiasm to finish it, but I suppose I should.

Worst performer was my very recent purchase SRB:Serabi Gold, which dropped 8%. It wasn't my only poor gold performer though, as GGP:Greatland Resources fell 7%.

FDM:FDM Group, IPX:Impax Asset Management and TRU:Trufin all dropped 5%.

AMRQ:Amaroq managed to buck the trend for gold miners and went up 5%.

CORE:Solidcore Resources wins Share of the Week for a surprise climb of 11%. I wish they would list back on LSE as I can't do anything with my holding.

Week 577 Review - Massive SIPP change after re-generating magic formula rankings

This might take a while to write, as I cashed in a load of profits in my SIPP and replaced shares that fell out of the top 50 ranking with shares in the top 30. I'm happy to say most of my shares remain in the top 50, as I would rather hold onto them.

The result was a widening in the deficit between cost and value of £2,663 to £148,791, but that was after cashing in £3,359 of profit, so it was really an up week. The deficit between injection and value grew to £54,763 and total portfolio value went up to £133,725.

Given gold stayed up during the week and results were very good, it's a real surprise that my worst performer was GGP:Greatland Resources, which dropped 7%.

IES:Invinity Energy have been drifting, and fell another 6% this week.

I thought FNX:Fonix had started to turn around, but they dropped 5% this week.

Two of my brand new holdings got off to a bad start, with SRB:Serabi Gold and WVIA:Winvia Entertainment both dropping 5% from when I bought them.

There were very few big risers this week.

CORE:Solidcore Resources climbed 6% and it was interesting that a new investor offered to buy my shares vie a tender offer, but they had the cheek to offer less than the current share price. It did make me wonder if these may be considering re-listing in UK.

MSI:MS International also went up 6% so my holding is 25% up now.

Share of the week is ATYM:Atalya Mining, which climbed 12% as the price of copper went up. These are now above the recent placing price and my holding is up 27% and making £1,158 potential profit. I'm hoping these will be a long term holding.

I got a gigantic £418 dividend from TRU:Trufin, and as their share price hasn't recovered from ex-dividend day, I re-invested it in the same company, buying 427 shares at 97.78p costing £422.52. That increased by holding by 50% and reduced my average price to 105.6p.

Portfolio value went up a small amount, and potential profits dropped by just £4. The dividend took me into positive performance for year 12.

Still remarkably flat.

This was a week of significant change, with 8 companies falling out of the top 50 in my magic formula ranking and being sold. I made £3,359 profit on those sales, and although my portfolio value stayed pretty much the same, the difference between cost and value suffered by £3,065 due to the profits being cashed in. That means it would have been an up week if I hadn't sold a load of shares.

I kept almost £1,000 cash in my AJ Bell account to use for monthly purchases of £250. I also got a £26 dividend from UKW:Greencoat UK Wind.

These are the shares I sold

33 shares in CKN:Clarkson at 5046.053p making £469.84 (39.9%) profit.
18 shares in GAW:Games Workshop at 18462p making £1,104.52 (49.7%) profit.
26 shares in RSW:Renishaw at 5018.99p making £206.12 (19.3%) profit.
41 shares in RIO:Rio Tinto at 7671.5644p making £874.75 (38.5%) profit.
206 shares in INVP:Investec at 633.69p making £153.01 (13.8%) profit
785 shares in SBRE:Sabre Insurance at 171.21p making £137.76 (11.4%) profit.
127 shares in KNOS:Kainos Group at 1237.05p making £430.62 (38.4%) profit.
145 shares in BPM:BP Marsh & Partners at 672.55p making £16.72 (-1.7%) loss.

I would normally have kept BPM until it was in profit, but there was something else I wanted to buy, and the loss was miniscule. I kept my larger holding in BPM until it gets into profit, but will sell it then.

Here are the new shares that I bought with the proceeds

Ranked 4, MEGP:ME Group International 869 shares at 125.12p costing £1,099.68
Ranked 9, NICL:Nichols 104 shares at 1139p costing £1,191.51
Ranked 12, MYI:Murray International Trust 292 shares at 372.3525p costing £1,099.66

Ranked 16, INPP:International Public Partnerships 780 shares at 139.965p costing £1,098.68
Ranked 19, WVIA:Winvia Entertainment 441 shares at 247.8p costing £1,099.75
Ranked 21, SRB:Serabi Gold 630 shares at 320.25p costing £2,034.62.
Ranked 22, BRWM:Blackrock World Mining Trust 105 shares at 1032.5491p costing £1,096.55
Ranked 29, QLT:Quilter 562 shares at 193.268p costing £1,098.55
Ranked 32, LWDB:Law Debenture 87 shares at 1251.6722p costing £1,099.39. (Note these are outside the top 30 but there are 2 companies I can't buy on ethical grounds in the top 30, so I extended to 32 and I liked the look of this one.

I also bought another 947 shares in AMRQ:Amaroq at 104.8448p costing £999.83 in my Hargreaves Lansdown account, and another 715 at 104.8448p costing £754.64 in my AJ Bell account.

There are 5 companies in the top 30 I still don't own, so shall watch them over the next 6 months and hopefully buy some next time I get a pension transfer.

Now it's just a case of sitting back and seeing what happens!

The value line is still on the injection line. I dream of getting consistently above it.

The profit taking hit this one quite badly, but we're still above the trend line.

Yes - back above the trend line! Probably not for long, but over the last 12 months I've improved my long-term performance by around £100 per month, which I've got to be happy with. If only I can get the portfolio value back in the black

I was quite sad to see some of my shares go, particularly GAW:Games Workshop, but I also enjoyed the complete lack of any bias when selling. If it fell out of the top 50, then it got sold, however much I liked it. If only I could bring more of my portfolio in line with this form of management. One day I'd love to be able to offload JLP:Jubilee Metals and OPTI:Optibitoix without a massive loss and move the proceeds into this system. I did get to do it with some of my PBX:Probiotix Health shares, so there is hope.

Week 576 Review - Fantastic week for the SIPP thanks to gold rally.

A great week thanks to the gold miners, with the deficit between cost and value improving by £3,630 to £146,127 and the deficit between injection and value reducing to £55,966. Total portfolio value increased to £132,522.

Worst performer was AMP:Ampeak Energy, which dropped 8%. I think that was profit taking after a spike last week. My holding is still 69% down.

If JLP:Jubilee Metals had stayed flat this would have been an even better week, but it fell 8% and dented my gains.

POLR:Polar Capital fell 7% for no obvious reason.

INVP:Investec dropped 6% but most of that was from going ex-dividend.

SBTX:SkinBioTherapeutics drifted another 5% lower after no news.

CORE:Solidcore Resources climbed 6% so my holding is now 49% down. I can't actually sell them, but it gives me hope they'll eventually resume paying a dividend and maybe re-list on the London stock market.

ATYM:Atalya Mining climbed 7% and are pretty much back at the level they were before the placing, with my holding 13% up and making £559 potential profit.

RIO:Rio Tinto went up 8% and my holding is now up by 38% and making £868 potential profit.

PAGE:Michael Page seems to be recovering and climbed another 9% this week. My holding is still down by 56% and I can't average down as it has fallen out of my top 50 ranking. I may get an opportunity to sell if this momentum continues.

GGP:Greatland Resources went up 11% putting my recent holding at 16% up with £165 potential profit, and my older holding up by 70% making £2,407 potential profit.

FRES:Fresnillo climbed 12% but my holding is still down by 12% so I need the same again next week.

PBX:Probiotix Health went up 13% which allowed my small SIPP holding to go into profit, and I sold it as it doesn't qualify for being held in my SIPP, as it's not a magic formula share. I wish I had the chance to offload the other ineligible shares in my SIPP, but they are a long way from getting back into profit.

EDV:Endeavour Mining went up 15% so my holding is now 23% up with £981 potential profit.

PAF:Pan African Resources zoomed up 26% putting my recent smaller holding up by 17% with £250 potential profit, and my original holding up by 346% making £4,786 potential profit.

THX:Thor Explorations had been really frustrating as I couldn't understand the huge drop, but this week they also went up 26% and my holding is now only 17% down.

Share of the Week is KNOS:Kainos Group, which rocketed up by 33% after stating profits would exceed expectations. That took my holding up by 43% and making £492 potential profit.

Not a great week for the ISA due to the 8% drop in JLP:Jubilee Metals and also drops for SBTX:SkinBioTherapeutics, IES:Invinity Energy and AMRQ:Amaroq. I don't understand how most of my gold miners were in double digit rises, but AMRQ dropped in value. IES and AMRQ are my 2 profitable shares, so potential profits dropped by £65.

I sold my small holding of 6,068 shares in PBX:Probiotix Health at 9,7775p and made £98:00 (19.7%) profit. I was planning to keep the cash to use for monthly investments, but when AMRQ:Amaroq dropped in price despite the price of gold rocketing, and with the potential for being added to FTSE indices next month, I decided to buy as many as I could. I bought 736 shares in my AJ Bell account at 103.2388p costing £764.84 and I also added £300 to my Hargreaves Lansdown account and bought 465 at 103.23p costing £486.97. I'll be a bit sad if they don't rally next week to catch up the other gold miners.

Portfolio value went up a healthy £4,147, of which £3,096 was increased potential profits. I didn't receive any dividend payments.

I do believe we're just about touching the injection line!

A healthy gap above the trend line, but in the past that has been very short lived. Will this time be any different?

It's time to re-calculate my magic formula rankings, so I'm hoping some of my existing profitable holdings will have dropped out of the top 50 so I can sell them and bring some new blood into the portfolio. I just need to find time to crunch all the numbers.

Week 575 Review - Jubilee Metals helps us have a positive week, otherwise flat.

Not a bad week. It was largely flat, but an increase in JLP:Jubilee Metals helped it into the black. The deficit between cost and value narrowed by £1,861 to £149,757 and the deficit between injection and value reduced to £59,731. Total portfolio value increased to £128,457.

Worst performer was SBTX:SkinBioTherapeutics which dropped 14% and will likely drift until there is news.

DXRX:Diaceutics and RIO:Rio Tinto both dropped 6% for no obvious reason.

YU.:Yu Group fell 5%.

POLR:Polar Capital climbed 5%.

IES:Invinity Energy and PBX:Probiotix Health both zoomed up 14%.

Share of the Week is AMP:Ampeak Energy, which went up 24% but I don't know why. My holding is still 67% down so no imminent hope of getting rid.

Here's the ISA and shares portfolio after week 3 of year 12.

Most of the £991 was thanks to a modest rise in JLP:Jubilee Metals, and IES:Invinity Energy helped potential profits rise by £39.

Is that a slight rise I see?

Slowly launching above the trend line.

I had a lovely £104 dividend from POLR:Polar Capital, reminding me why I hold them, a less lovely £7 from SOI:Schroder Oriental Income, and £35 from THX:Thor Explorations.

It was monthly investment time, so I bought another 37 shares in BPM:BP Marsh & Partners at 675p costing £249.75 and I bought 14 shares in YU.:Yu Group at 1750p costing £245.00.

A relatively small £870 rise in value, but a £82 drop in potential profits.

The injection line is tantalisingly close.

Still above the trend line, but only just.

This was my last holiday snapshot, so all caught up now. Glad that I was in a better position after the holiday than I was before it.

Week 574 Review - The best week for ages in my SIPP.

An absolutely brilliant week, with strong recoveries for gold miners but also lots of other stocks too. The deficit between cost and value narrowed by £5,446 to £151,619 and the deficit between injection and value reduced to £61,684. Total portfolio value rose to £126,255

Worst performer by miles was TRU:Trufin, which dropped 28%. However, it's kind of a nice drop as it went ex-dividend for a gigantic special dividend. If I had spare cash in my ISA I'd be buying more of these before they return to their pre-dividend price.

FDM:FDM Group dropped 9% and are now 66% down.

RDT:Rosslyn Data dropped 6% and are 85% down so soon I won't have to report on them as they'll officially be a basket case.

AMP:Ampeak Energy drifted down 5%.

N91:Ninety One and RIO:Rio Tinto both went up 5%.

DXRX:Diaceutics, HPOW:H-Power, KNOS:Kainos Group and RSW:Renishaw all went up 6%.

CORE:Solidcore Resources and JHD:James Halstead went up 7%.

ASHM:Ashmore Group, FSG:Foresight Group Holdings, PAGE:Michael Page and W7L:Warpaint London went up 8%.

THX:Thor Explorations climbed 9%.

MSI:MS International went up 10%.

POLR:Polar Capital increased by 12%.

EDV:Endeavour Mining went up 15%.

FRES:Fresnillo went up 16%.

FOUR:4imprint and PAF:Pan African Resources both went up 18%.

Share of the Week is GGP:Greatland Resources which zoomed up an amazing 25% so even my recent purchase went 4% into profit.

A small increase in value, but a big drop in potential profit thanks to TRU:Trufin plummeting to a loss.

Still just above the trend line.

I had a £16 dividend from GAW:Games Workshop, £39 from N91:NinetyOne, and £28 from TAM:Tatton Asset Management.

Portfolio value zoomed up by £5,259 and £3,669 of that was increased potential profit.

Reaching for the injection line.

Above the trend line once more!

I was still on holiday so still catching up.

Week 573 Review - Pretty flat - ISA up, but SIPP down more.

A pretty flat week, but ended up in the red, with the deficit between cost and value expanding by £357 to £157,066 and the deficit between injection and value increasing to £67,253. Total portfolio value fell to £120,685.

I was on holiday and was able to take weekly snapshots, but can't remember why anything happened so the next bit will be brief.

Worst performer was POLR:Polar Capital, which dropped a huge 13%. It may have gone ex-dividend as one was paid recently.

AMP:Ampeak Energy dropped 12% and IES:Invinity Energy dropped 7%.

THX:Thor Explorations dropped 7% and GGP:Greatland Resources dropped 5% as the gold miners were mostly flat.

RSW:Renishaw went down 5%.

FOUR:4imprint climbed 5% and went 1% into potential profit.

III:3i Group also went up 5% but is still 6% down.

KNOS:Kainos Group climbed 6% and is now up by 12%.

AMRQ:Amaroq defied the other gold miners and climbed 9% to go 12% up in my ISA.

W7L:Warpaint London remains volatile and went up 11% but my holding is still 14% down.

Share of the Week was DXRX:Diaceutics which zoomed up 12% but is still 16% down.

Still flat and well below the injection line.

Dragging the tend line downwards.

Nothing more to say as I have another 2 weeks of holiday snapshots to write.
